Preparing for a property valuation

A little preparation helps an agent understand your home and the move you have in mind.

Start with your plans

Think about why you may move and when. Tell the agent whether you are exploring options or ready to market. A valuation conversation can cover both.

Walk through the home

Make a short note of improvements, the way rooms are used and any features a visitor might miss. You do not need to redecorate for the appointment.

Ask about the approach

Ask what comparable evidence supports the suggested price, how the property would be presented and what happens after an offer. Get the proposed service and fees in writing.

This is general process information. For questions about legal obligations, borrowing, tax, ownership or the condition of a property, consult the appropriate qualified adviser.
